Couch Time
Life moves fast. Between work, responsibilities, and family, it’s easy for couples to drift apart without even noticing. That’s where Couch Time comes in—a simple, intentional practice that helps you reconnect, head to head and heart to heart.
What is Couch Time?
Couch Time is 20–30 minutes of uninterrupted time together. Devices down π±, TV off πΊ, kids in bed π€. It’s not for hashing out conflicts or making plans—it’s just for the two of you to connect, laugh, listen, and be present. Think of it as a mini-reset for your marriage. π
Couch Time Ideas
Here are a few ways to make your time together meaningful:
1. 3 Wins + 1 Miss π
Take turns sharing:
-
3 things that went well today (bonus if one relates to your marriage!)
-
1 thing that felt like a “miss”—no blame, just honesty.
This practice encourages gratitude and perspective while keeping the conversation light and real.
2. 1 Word ✨
Sit together in silence for 60–90 seconds. Hold hands π€ or simply sit close. Just breathe and be present. After the timer, each person shares one word that came to mind during the quiet.
It’s amazing how a single moment of stillness can create closeness and awareness of your partner’s inner world. πΏ
3. I Heard You Say π£️
This exercise strengthens listening and empathy:
-
One person shares something on their heart for 2–3 minutes.
-
The other responds with:
-
“I heard you say…” (repeat it back in their words)
-
“Did I get it right?”
-
It’s a simple way to feel truly heard and understood without needing to fix anything. π
The Heart Behind Couch Time π
Couch Time isn’t about solving problems—it’s about showing up for each other. It’s a sacred pause in the middle of busy days that allows couples to laugh π, listen π, and reconnect π. When you press pause, even for just 20–30 minutes, you create space for presence, connection, and love to flourish. π
